Have you ever watched a young child in an activity or game of make believe, and thought to yourself…"this kid has to grow up to be an artist, or architect, or nurse, or…"  Well hello! Meet the little kid who was the unofficial mothers helper at all the social gatherings. I was the one who “mothered” the babies and lugged them around when I was barely big enough to get my arms around them! So, it was no surprise to anyone when I decided early on to become a registered nurse and enter a profession where I could care for babies and their mother’s.

During nursing school, I began working in an OBGYN office as well as working at a hospital as a student nurse in labor and delivery.  I graduated from nursing school in 2001 and immediately accepted a job in labor and delivery.  During my time as an RN, I have worked in ante-partum, labor and delivery, and post-partum. I truly enjoy what I do and love being able to help moms and babies as they start on their journey together!

In 2005, I gave birth to my first child and completely fell in love! I knew that I wanted to breastfeed, however we got off to a very rocky start. There were days when I was convinced that we would never get the hang of it, but eventually we figured things out and had a very positive nursing experience. In 2008, I gave birth to my second child, and once again was swept off my feet! We too had a few struggles with breastfeeding in the beginning, however, we were able to find our way as a pair and share an equally wonderful breastfeeding adventure. I learned first hand that each child and each breastfeeding experience is completely different and can present an entirely new set of challenges.

My own experiences with motherhood and breastfeeding made me realize that I wanted to work with moms and babies outside of the hospital setting. In March of 2006, I completed my training to become a Certified Childbirth Educator through Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA) and in January of 2008, I became a Certified Lactation Educator through UCLA.

When I first took over “Sharie’s Lactation Station” in 2006, it was strictly breast pump rentals and breast pump accessories. It didn’t take long before I realized there was a real need to provide additional products and services to help make breastfeeding as comfortable as possible for new moms. As a result of this need, along with my passion to celebrate motherhood, “Lactation Station” has now expanded to include a variety of exceptional products, classes, and services.

Motherhood is truly one of life’s greatest blessings! My goal is to make your transition into motherhood as smooth as possible. Whether it is a class, consultation, product, or just a quick question, “Lactation Station” is here to provide you all of the tools and support necessary for a wonderful journey!
